Material karma

"Respect the karma. Turn the good into something better. Awaken those who have faded to grey. Rethink. Tear down, play, build. See what others won’t, and go when others hesitate. If something appears to be ready but you still yearn for a comma, go ahead and add it. Or linger a little, just long enough to get from a thought to an idea. Play with the context, strip meaningless nuances, but always cherish the karma. Not everything is meant to be changed. It is easy to get lost in translation, lose stories, shatter souls. Less makes more. Forgotten becomes unforgettable." – Nils Kajander

Rethought and redesigned

Nils K believes in the power of ideas. A good idea won’t wear out, burden or irritate. That is what interesting and sustainable design is all about too. In a world where everything is already discovered and done, it is design's task to create something new with less. Dare, rethink, design and produce something original and relevant. This approach is called karmadesign, a way to steer away from environmentally burdening processes and materials, always aiming to use the industrial surplus or recycled materials.

Cable & willing

In the spirit of karmadesign, Nils K introduces Cable & willing, a coffee table that brings the all enduring cable spool to people’s living rooms. Manufactured from 100% recycled plastic, the spool comes with a table top (made out of MDF), available in six colors: telemagenta, sulfur yellow, yellow green, pastel blue, signal white and bright red orange.

Dimensions: 61 cm x 48,5 cm

Design: Nils Kajander, 2013
